SUBJECT: Jordan S&T Agreement Enters into Force


1. Post received a diplomatic note on June 12 from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs indicating that Jordan has met the conditions needed
to bring the U.S. - Jordan Agreement on Science and Technology
Cooperation, signed by the Ambassador and the Minister of Planning
and International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali, into effect. This
completes the exchange of notes needed to bring the Agreement into
force.


2. Post will send the original diplomatic note to the Office of the
Legal Advisor and a copy of it to NEA/ELA Jordan Desk.


3. An unofficial translation of the diplomatic note follows. Begin

Date: June 12, 2007

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to the
Embassy of the United States in Amman and refers to the Embassy's
letter No. 561 dated May 2, 2007, concerning the Agreement on
Technological and Scientific Cooperation signed in May 2007 by the
Jordanian and United States governments. The Ministry is pleased to
inform the Embassy that the Government of Jordan has fulfilled the
procedures necessary to bring the aforementioned agreement into
effect.

The Ministry takes this opportunity to renew to the Embassy the
assurances of its highest consideration.
