1. Econchief discussed the G8-BMENA Forum for the Future
Berlin meeting with Senior MFA America's desk officer Rowda
Al-Otaiba on September 30. Econchief encouraged the UAEG to
attend at a senior level and explained that the USdel would
be headed by A/S Fried. After checking with the MFA's
Germany desk officer, Al-Otaiba confirmed that the UAEG had
received the invitation, but had not yet decided on
attendance.
2. Econchief also contacted German Embassy DCM to see if he
had any further insights into UAE participation. He did not,
but promised to contact Econchief with any information.
