(C) Poloff verbally delivered reftel demarche to Konrad
Szwedzinski, Head of Export Controls at the Polish MFA, on
September 20. Szwedzinski noted that Poland would make every
effort to cooperate with the U.S. request to cease arms
transfers to Venezuela. He was not aware of any existing
Polish-Venezuelan arms contracts and offered to consult with
the Ministry of Economy to see if any existed. Szwedzinski
also promised to relay the points discussed to his colleagues
in MFA's Americas Department.
