1. (C) Pol External Chief delivered reftel demarche August 22
to Krzysztof Plominski, MFA Director for ME-Africa.
Plominski acknowledged the points and agreed that Iran and
Syria had to be held to their obligation under UNSCR 1701.
He also said that the GOP planned no delegations to either
Teheran or Damascus at present, although MFA U/S
Waszczykowski will be visiting Beirut and Jerusalem August
28-29 (Ref B).
2. (C) Plominski commented that Iran was turning a cold
shoulder to Poland since the beginning of the Lebanon crisis,
apparently because the GOI considered Poland too closely
associated with the U.S. (N.B. Poland has active Embassies
in both Teheran and Damascus, with Ambassadors in place.)
