1. We are aware of no reportable instances of expropriation or
nationalization of the assets or property of U.S. persons in
Lithuania. We recommend that the Lithuania section of the 2006
Report of US Citizen Expropriation Claims adopt the same language as
the 2005 report:
-- The United States Government is generally aware that United
States persons of Lithuanian descent who were not United States
citizens at the time their claims arose have outstanding claims
against the Government of Lithuania. As noted in the introduction,
the Act does not require a report on their claims. The Department
of State, however, does provide appropriate assistance to all United
States persons with claims against Lithuania.
2. Our POC for this report is Economic Officer Scott Woodard
(woodards@state.gov, tel: +370-5-266-5542). His backup on this
issue is Traver Gudie (gudiet@state.gov, tel: +370-5-266-5547).
