1. We spoke on May 9 with Viktoras Meizis, head of the Ministry of
Health's International Relations Division about the USG's
announcement of the Implementation Plan for the National Strategy
for Pandemic Influenza. Meizis said he appreciated this information
and that he found the "pandemicflu.gov" website helpful and
informative. He also said that he would pass the information we
provided to other relevant GOL agencies.
2. We also posted a fact sheet on the Embassy website outlining the
USG's engagement with countries and international organizations
around the world to assist in the preparation, surveillance, and
response to the threat of avian and pandemic influenza.
