1. (Q Post continues to include monitoring and
compliance of trade agreements as a priority in our
planning and market access objectives. It is an
important element in securing access for U.S.
companies in one of America's largest export markets.
The Department of Commerce Market Access and
Compliance position in Tokyo, together with its FSN
support position, play a central role in tracking and
reporting on trade complaints and compliance issues,
in coordination with the other sections and
constituent posts in the Mission. As both these
compliance positions are currently vacant, FCS is
making best efforts to support compliance priorities,
and looks forward to the expeditious staffing of these
key positions, which will facilitate regular
monitoring and reporting on compliance issues.
