Makino told Embassy Tokyo political officer on April 20 that
Japan -- which joined the United States in submitting the
four Sudanese officials for sanctions designation --
continues to support U.S. efforts. Mr. Makino added that the
Japanese Government already has instructed its mission in New
York to support the U.S.-drafted resolution should the
Chinese and Russians continue to block the Sanctions
Committee process.
