1. (C) On May 25, PolChief delivered ref E demarche on the
NAM Ministerial and UN reform to Honduran MFA Director of
Multilateral Affairs Irene Cardona and ref D demarche on the
possible NAM Ministerial statement on Iran to Foreign
Minister Milton Jimenez. FM Jimenez told PolChief that
Honduras would not be sending a representative to the NAM
Ministerial, and that the GOH agreed with the USG policy on
Iran.

2. (C) As noted in ref B, Ambassador delivered ref C demarche
on the U.S. statement on Iran to Honduran President Jose
Manuel "Mel" Zelaya Rosales and FM Jimenez May 31. The GOH
subsequently issued an official statement later that same day
in support of the U.S. statement and urging Iran to seize the
opportunity. (Post e-mailed this statement to WHA/CEN on
June 1.)

3. (C) Upon receipt of ref A requesting Post demarche the GOH
to express disappointment on the NAM Iran statement, PolOff
contacted Cardona who confirmed that the GOH did not send any
representative to the NAM Ministerial. Given the fact that
the GOH did not participate in the NAM Ministerial and given
the GOH's helpful official statement on Iran, Post believes
that ref A demarche should not be delivered to the GOH.
Please advise Post if this demarche still needs to be
delivered to the GOH.
