SUBJECT: ESTONIA SUPPORTS U.S. POSITION ON BURMA

REF:A) STATE 55919 B) STATE 57126

(SBU) On April 18 Poloff delivered ref A and B points
related to European Commission (EC) comments at the
2006 Burma/Myanmar Forum to Indrek Erikson, MFA
Southeast Asia Desk Officer. Erikson said the GOE
agreed with, and supported, the U.S. position on
Burma, though, he noted, special care and attention
should be given to the other major actors (China and
India) on the issue. Erikson expressed his
disagreement with EC Director General Eneko
Landaburu's comments, and said that no "softening" in
regards to Burma/Myanmar should take place without
some positive movement from the GOB. This is the
position the GOE has taken within EU fora.
