(S/NF) Econoffs on November 22 delivered reftel talking
points to Ong Soo Chuan and Yvonne Ow of MFA's International
Organizations Directorate. Ong said he would pass this
information to the relevant law enforcement agencies. In
response to our question, Ong said that Singapore would
continue to hold the chromium-nickel steel plates shipment
until it could determine its status with regard to UN
Security Council Resolution 1696. Referencing point "c"
(reftel),Ow asked if we had shared this information with UAE
government officials. As requested, Post's DHS/ICE
representatives have also contacted their counterparts in
Singapore Customs regarding this case.
