1. On September 22, 2006, U.S. Marshals returned Felix
Rodriguez (aka Felix Moca and/or Coco Pelao) to Puerto Rico
for trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of
Puerto Rico, where he is the subject of sealed indictment
number 05-302(DRD),filed September 8, 2005. As alleged in
the indictment, Rodriguez participated in a conspiracy to
import both cocaine and heroin into the United States.
Rodriguez and his criminal cohorts ultimately imported 220
kiograms of cocaine into the customs territory of the United
States on or about December 24, 2004.
2. Following the issuance of a Dominican arrest warrant based
on a U.S. Government request for extradition, Rodriguez was
apprehended September 12, 2006, by officers of the Dominican
National Directorate for Drug Control's Fugitive Unit.
Rodriguez made a free, knowing, and voluntary waiver of his
right to challenge his extradition before the Criminal
Chamber of the Dominican Supreme Court on September 13, 2006.
His extradition was properly confirmed by presidential
decree.
3. Rodriguez is the 28th fugitive extradited to the United
States during FY-2006 and the 18th extradited during this
calendar year.
