EXTRADITION RIGHTS, RETURNS TO U.S.
1. On December 29, 2005, U.S. Marshals returned Jose
Placencia to the United States for trial in the State of New
York based on Kings County indictment number 1400/2001
charging murder in the second degree.
2. Following a July 21, 2005, U.S. extradition request and
the subsequent issuance of a Dominican arrest warrant,
Placencia was apprehended on December 16, 2005, by agents of
the Dominican National Directorate for Drug Control's
Fugitive Unit. Placencia subsequently made a free, knowing,
and voluntary waiver of further local proceedings before the
Criminal Chamber of the Dominican Supreme Court. His
decision to submit to U.S. extradition was evidenced by a
witnessed, notarized affidavit.
3. Placencia was the 33rd and final fugitive extradited to
the United States during calendar year 2005.
