1. (SBU) On May 30, 2006, Post received the following
diplomatic note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
regarding the addition of Sajid Mohamed Badat to the UN 1267
Sanctions list of individuals/entities associated with Usama
bin Laden, the Taliban or Al Qaida.
Complimentary opening --
The Ministry wishes to refer to the Embassy's diplomatic note
no 1305, dated January 31, 2006 regarding the addition of Mr.
Sajid Mohamed Badat to the 1267 UN sanctions list for his
connections to Usama bin Laden and/or Taliban.
The Ministry wishes to inform the Embassy that Sajid Mohamed
Badat has no financial activities in Saudi Arabia. In
cooperation with Government of the United States, the
Government of Saudi Arabia intends to freeze his funds should
he conduct transactions in the Kingdom.
