1. Post presented reftel diplomatic note, CV, and talking points to
Icelandic MFA Human Rights Officer Ingibjorg Davidsdottir June 13.
Davidsdottir responded June 19 that the GOI would probably make its
decision on which candidates to support for the UN Human Rights
Committee in August. She added that the MFA is giving Ruth Wedgwood
"careful and favorable consideration" and would "likely" support
her.
2. The Ambassador will reiterate the importance that the U.S.
attaches to the UNHRC and to Professor Wedgwood's service there when
she shortly pays a courtesy call on new Icelandic Foreign Minister
Valgerdur Sverrisdottir.
