(SBU) Acting Charge d'Affaires, a.i., Judith Semilota
delivered points on the Human Rights Council (HRC) contained in
reftels A and B to acting Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs,
James Burty David.
Regarding countries' taking a pledge to support other candidates
who have good Human Rights reports, he stated that he would
bring the issue to cabinet and brief the Prime Minister on April 14.
He stated the GOM strongly supports human rights and expects the GOM
will take the pledge. He referred to the announcement this week of its
candidature to the HRC and he stated the GOM would not support countries
that abused human rights or countries with UNSC sanctions against placed
upon them for terrorism sponsorship.
