1. Per ref A, Post provides the following information
regarding GoH officials at the 61st UN General Assembly.

A. President Preval informed the Ambassador on August 24
that he would attend the UNGA and planned to include a visit
to Washington in his travel plans (ref B).

-- Rene Garcia Preval, President of the Republic of Haiti.

-- Preval initially stated that he would spend September
18-19 in Washington, presumably traveling to New York the
evening of the 19th or the morning of the 20th. Depending on
the availability of USG officials and our recommendations, he
would adjust his schedule accordingly. Preval expressed
interest in meeting the President and Secretary Rice.

-- Not married.

-- Interpretation in French required for any meetings.

B. Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis has indicated he
will not attend.

C. Foreign Minister Clerisme indicated to the Ambassador
that he would attend both the High Level Event on Migration
and accompany President Preval at the General Assembly.

-- Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cults Jean Renald
Clarisme.

-- Clerisme will presumably arrive in time to participate in
the Migration event beginning September 14 and stay through
President Preval's participation at the General Assembly.

-- Spouse will not travel.

-- Interpretation in French required for any meetings.
