1. (U) Per reftel, on June 19 post delivered points to the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to no immediate reaction.
In a follow-up attempt on June 29, neither the head of the
MFA America's Desk nor the International Organizations'
Division were yet conversant with the status of the OAS
MLAT and Protocol.


2. (U) To reinforce the importance of law enforcement tools
outlined in the OAS MLAT and Protocol, Ambassador sent a
letter to Suriname's Director of Taxes, Roy May, providing
detailed information on the convention and explaining how
its ratification could greatly benefit Suriname.


3. (U) Post will report any further comments from the
Government of Suriname.
