(SBU) We delivered reftel points to Ministry of Foreign
Affairs Desk Officer for East African Humanitarian Affairs
Rigmor Skjeie Koti on May 8. Koti said that Norway has
committed over USD 16 million for humanitarian aid to the
Darfur region of Sudan so far this year, USD 3 million of
which came in a supplemental donation earmarked for the World
Food Program in April. Normally, Norway prefers not to
earmark funds but did so in WFP's case. According to Koti,
Norwegians are also considering an additional donation to
UNICEF for the Darfur region this year. Sudan is one of the
largest recipients of Norwegian humanitarian and development
aid.
