2. (SBU) Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs George Iacovou
will attend the May 18 Dutch Conference on Transatlantic
Energy Security co-hosted by Deputy Secretary Zoellick,
according to Demetris Hadjiargyrou, Director of the FM's
Office. Together with the Dutch DCM Ton Mandemaker, we
delivered reftel points to Hadjiargyrou on May 3.
Hadjiargyrou confirmed Iacovou's attendance but noted that
the FM will have to leave for Strasbourg in the late
afternoon and consequently will miss the cocktail and buffet
dinner and possibly the final session. Iacovou is
accompanying President Papadopoulos to Egypt later this week,
where the latter is expected to sign an agreement on joint
