1. (U) The GOI informed POLOFF on July 19 that the Iranian
Foreign Minister's visit to India will not take place on July
19 as announced, but will be rescheduled to a later, as yet
undetermined, date. MEA Undersecretary Sherma (Iran) told
Poloff that the Iranians canceled the planned meeting at
their initiative, telling New Delhi that the developing
situation in the Middle East (the Israeli military incursions
into Lebanon,) required the complete attention of the Foreign
Ministry.
