Post delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Permanent Secretary Patricia Rodgers June 1, but did not
receive a substantive response at that time. On June 7,
Charge d'Affairs met with Ms. Rodgers, who said the Hague
Code of Conduct on Ballistic Missle Proliferation (HCOC) is
"on the list" of conventions to which The Bahamas intends to
subscribe. Ms. Rodgers said The Bahamas is working to
shorten that list, but that a lack of staffing had not yet
allowed appropriate attention to the HCOC. The MFA is
currently working to finalize accession to the Chemical
Weapons Convention.
