U/S Sayyid Badr al-Busaidy will represent Oman at the NAM
Ministerial, but noted Oman's understanding, based on
extensive consultations in New York, that there has been no
decision reached concerning issuance of any statement on
Iran. P/E Chief reminded al-Maani of the extensive bilateral
discussions between high-level USG and Omani officials on
Iran's nuclear program, and Oman's strong support for a
diplomatic solution. The best means of achieving a
diplomatic solution is to maintain a firm and consistent
message to Iran on the need to comply with UNSC and IAEA
resolutions. Al-Maani undertook to convey the USG points to
the Under Secretary prior to the latter's travel.
