1. (U) The 43d annual Munich Conference on Security Policy, the
"Davos" of the security policy world is set to take place February
9-11, 2007 at the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich, Germany. Invited
guests include heads of state, foreign ministers, defense ministers,
parliamentary delegations and journalists from around the world.
2. (SBU) While this year's Conference is still a work in progress,
the conference organizers have tentatively laid-out the following
agenda:
Friday, February 9
- Opening Dinner
Saturday, February 10
- Keynote Speech: NATO after the Riga-Summit and ESDP (tentatively
German Chancellor Merkel)
- Panel Topic 1: EU - A Regional Model for Peace, Security and
Welfare?
- Panel Topic 2: Afghanistan - Enduring Freedom or Mission
Impossible? - NATO and its Global Responsibility
- Dinner hosted by Bavarian Minister-President Edmund Stoiber
Sunday, February 11
- Panel Topic 3: Peace in the Greater Middle East: A New Approach?
- Panel Topic 4: Non-Proliferation and Asymmetric Warfare
- Concluding Luncheon
