(C) In a meeting covering several subjects (septels),the
Ambassador April 26 delivered reftel "Food for Thought Paper"
on a NATO-Middle East Security Cooperation Center to MFA
Assistant Under Secretary for Coordination and Follow Up
Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. The Ambassador
noted that Bahrain was one of four GCC countries that had
joined the NATO Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, qualifying
it for Center programs. Shaikh Abdul Aziz said he would be
in touch with the Bahrain Defense Force and Ministry of
Interior and respond to the paper on the Center. He said
Bahrain was interested in participating in Center activities
but would be unable to offer funding for its establishment.
