concerning responding to Cuba at the UN Human Rights Council
to MFA Assistant Under Secretary for Coordination and Follow
Up Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. Shaikh Abdul
Aziz said that Bahrain supports the principle of respecting
earlier decisions taken in international bodies and would be
inclined to apply this principle in the question of Cuba's
request for special treatment in reviewing its
country-specific mandate. He said that Bahrain would be
hesitant to allow NGOs to be banned from participating in
discussions on country-specific resolutions, commenting that
NGOs can play a positive role in all countries.
