1. (C) Post received the following diplomatic note June 11
from the Bahraini MFA.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain
presents its compliments to the United States Embassy, and
has the honor to inform the Embassy that the Government of
Bahrain welcomes and fully supports the Proliferation
Security Initiative (PSI) and the 4 September 2003 Statement
of Interdiction Principles (SOP).
This endorsement reflects Bahrain's willingness to cooperate
in preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass
destruction (WMD),their means of delivery and related
materials. Bahrain is committed to upholding the PSI SOP and
looks forward to participating, to the extent possible, in
future PSI-related activities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the United
States Embassy the assurances of its highest consideration.

2. (C) In a June 11 conversation, MFA Director for Bilateral
Affairs Dhafer Al Umran told A/DCM that a GOB official would
attend the June 23 PSI High Level Political Meeting in
Warsaw. He was not yet certain if a representative of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Ministry of Defense, or both,
would attend, and asked for feedback on what other
governments were doing.
