1. (S/NF) The Charity Commission of England and Wales intends
to issue a temporary asset freeze either late August 22 or
early August 23 on a UK-based charity with possible ties to
the August 10 foiled terror plot. According to Stuart Young
of the Home Office, the Charity Commission will temporarily
freeze the assets of Crescent Relief. Young added that there
"quite clear evidence" of links between the charity and the
Rauf brothers, suspects in this plot. Young said that the
charity has an estimated 200,000 BPS (USD 380,000) in
accounts. Young added that the National Terrorist Financial
Investigation Unit (NTFIU) -- not the Charity Commission --
will carry out the investigation on Crescent Relief.
