IMPORTANT THAN EVER

REF: A. SECSTATE 180222

B. SECSTATE 176828

(SBU) On November 8 PolMilOff presented reftel demarche A to
Zorica Bukinac Cimpersek, a staffer in the NATO Office of the
Security Policy Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Cimpersek said that the U.S. position made sense, that
bilateral cooperation with Ukraine would be "more important
than ever" given Ukraine's decision not to seek a Membership
Action Plan at this time, and that Slovenia would continue to
support reform efforts in Ukraine. PolMilOff also repeated
points from reftel demarche B, previously delivered by COM to
State Secretary Bozo Cerar on October 28. Cimpersek stated
that the MFA was "actually in the midst of (its) planning for
Riga" during PolMilOff's visit.
