1. (U) The MFA's Director for International Organizations,
Helena Paiva, shared this list of high level attendees with
Pol/Econ Off on September 7. Paiva confirmed that all
delegation members are fluent in English and that no spouses
will attend.
A. Attendance of the Head of State: Will not attend.
B. Attendance of the Head of Government:
-- Prime Minister Jose Socrates will attend UNGA. He plans
to arrive on September 20 and depart on September 22.
C. Attendance of the Foreign Minister:
-- Foreign Minister Luis Amado will attend UNGA. He is
scheduled to arrive on September 18 and remain in New York
until September 22.
D. Portuguese Delegation:
-- Portugal will send Ambassador Manuel Tomas Fernandes
Pereira, Director General for Foreign Policy, Ms. Helena
Paiva, and a representative from the Prime Minister's
personal staff.
