Pol/Econ Officer met with MFA East Asian Officer Ana Cordeiro
to underscore U.S. concerns regarding the recent increase in
violence and tensions in Sri Lanka on August 7. Portugal
shares the U.S. concerns, according to Cordeiro, and plans to
continue to support the EU's efforts there. She noted that
although Portugal does not have a significant bilateral
relationship directly with Sri Lanka, it closely follows
Norway, Denmark, and Finland's reports on the situation.
