Sunday, November 04, 2006
-- Under the title "Winds of War" Anwar Al-Harbi penned in
pro-government Arabic daily Al-Seyassah (11/04):
"He who monitors the political and military scene in the Arabian
Gulf waters and its surroundings would discover that there is a
fever of calls for a forthcoming war that may destroy everything,
given the huge quantity of arms and weapons purchased by the
countries of the region. The calm waters of the Gulf are disturbed
by the Iranian naval exercises being carried out every now and then.
The reply comes from American naval forces in the form of exercises
off the coast of Bahrain."
-- Riyad Ahmed Al-Adsani editorialized in progressive Arabic daily
Al-Qabas under the title "The Nuclear Weapon" (11/4):
"The west fears that the Iranian Republic will possess a nuclear
bomb. Iran will answer any sanctions or attacks in a decisive
manner. The situation in the Arabian Gulf is tense and the reason
is that the outbreak of a regional conflict or the occurrence of a
natural disaster will have grave consequences on the region as a
whole.
