-- "The Arabs are the Victims of Adventures not Conspiracies" is the
title of Walid Abdullah Al-Ghanem's piece in progressive Arabic
daily Al-Qabas (7/18):

"The Saudi statement on Lebanon that described the unilateral
adventurism without consulting with other was the exact truth. It
seems that Arabs and Muslims have surrendered to these adventurers
who come out of every corner to harm the nation with their actions,
and think they are doing us good."

-- In "The Hero...Who Pays the Bill for his Adventures?" by Salim
Al-Nashi penned in progressive Arabic daily Al-Qabas (7/18):

"Arabs are confused, what can they do? Who...pays the bill in the
end? What will happen in the future? ...The statements made by
Arab governments do not go beyond denunciation and in no way achieve
finding a solution. Arabs will think of one thing only during their
next set of meetings and that is who will pay the bill for the
destruction in Lebanon."

-- Nahar Amer Al-Mahfouz held in "Catastrophes, Destruction, and
Ruin" in moderate Arabic daily Al-Rai Al-Aam (7/18):

"The policies of whim and emotion followers will always lead to
failure and loss of the cause. Sadly, both HAMAS and Hezbollah are
following a harmful course. They conduct military exercises without
gain for their just cause. These small operations delay and do not
advance their struggle and are used by Israel as excuses against
them and that is what makes theirs failures and Israel's a
success."

-- "Hezbollah...Remnants of Pride in an Era of Servility" is
conservative political activist Dr. Sajed Al-Abdali's piece in
moderate Arabic daily Al-Rai Al-Aam (7/18):

"Let the cowards of this nation do us good with their silence, as
they have gotten us used to. Let those who are hired to write about
their trifling subjects be gone. Those whose religion is of
surrender and disgrace, you have your religion and we have ours. As
for Hezbollah and Mr. Hasan Nasrallah, they are the remnants of
pride and dignity in an era of servility and they will not be harmed
by those who oppose them."

-- Columnist and member of the Kuwait Journalists Society Dr. Ayed
Al-Manaa commented in moderate Arabic daily Al-Watan under the title
"Israel is the Reason and is Responsible" (7/18):

"It is clear that Israel is the reason for the violence the region
has suffered since 1948 and until present. It was born by force and
without any right. Despite its international birth certificate, it
will not stop its military insolence and the occupation of others'
land with force. Despite international recognition for its birth,
it will not respect international decisions, which has created a
growing hostility and hatred that is not limited to neighboring
countries but includes millions of Arabs and Muslims."

-- Editor-in-chief of pro-government Arabic-language daily
Al-Seyassah Ahmed Al-Jarallah penned on the front page of the
newspaper, "An Arab World Full of Impurities" (7/18):

"Hassan Nasrallah implicated Lebanon and the Arab world with his
adventures and forced them into circumstances that do not serve
their interests. He exposed the nation to danger in order to carry
out external orders telling him what to do and what he should do to
serve policies that bear no relation to the interests of Lebanon or
Arabs."

-- "Between Reality and Popular Views" penned by Kuwait University
Political Science Professor, Dr. Shamlan Yousef Al-Issa in
pro-government Arabic daily Al-Seyassah (7/18):

"There is not the least bit of doubt that Syria's entanglement in a
losing battle against the American supported Zionist entity will
lead to the destruction of the entire Syrian military apparatus.
The half-way solutions proposed at the G8 Summit do not solve the
problem. Peace in the region will not be realized without the
establishment of a Palestinian state. As for stalling and returning
to half-way solutions, it will mean a return yet again to the cycle
of violence and terror."
