(C) The Ambassador delivered reftel demarche on May 24 to
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Khaled Al-Jarallah
and emphasized the need for international consensus on Iran
and its nuclear aspirations. Al-Jarallah appreciated the
non-paper, explaining that he would later meet Kuwait's Head
of Delegation for the NAM meeting, MFA Director for
International Organizations Ambassador Abdullah Al-Murad, to
coordinate Kuwait's response to the proposed statement on
Iran. The GOK found one paragraph of the statement
particularly troubling and said the U.S. paper would help GOK
efforts to amend the language.
