SUBJECT: KUWAIT EXECUTES CITIZENS WHO MURDERED DOMESTIC
WORKERS
1. Kuwait executed two Kuwaiti citizens on May 2 for crimes
committed against domestic workers. Kuwaiti citizen Mohammad
Al-Shimmari abducted an Asian domestic worker, who died when
she threw herself out of his car as he sped away. He then
returned to where she lay, drove her to another area, and
raped her dead body. Kuwaiti citizen Sa'ad Al-Mutairi was
burglarizing a house when he found two Asian domestic
workers. He shot and killed both. These executions show the
Government's willingness to convict and punish its own
citizens for crimes committed against expatriate domestic
workers.
2. Three other executions occurred on May 2 as well: A
Kuwaiti who had raped and killed a young Pakistani girl and
raped an Egyptian girl; a Pakistani convicted of drug
trafficking; and an Indian who had killed his employer.
