Ariff Abdul Razak told us June 14 that Malaysian Foreign
Minister Syed Hamid would deliver a message to the Iranians
in Baku that the Iranians should give positive consideration
to the U.S. offer. There was a strong hope within the MFA
that Iran would seriously consider the offer. "We think it
is great that you are offering to talk," said Johan. Using
reftel points, we urged Malaysia to lead the Organization of
the Islamic Conference (OIC - of which Malaysia currently
serves as chair) to publicly encourage Iran to suspend all
enrichment and reprocessing activities.
