1. Per refel request, Post has reviewed and grants clearance from
the standpoint of potential implications to U.S. foreign policy
concerns to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposed
project, "Aromatic Amino Acid Metabolism in the Pathogenesis of
Kwashiorkor," pending human subject approval. Post understands
research institutions involved are Baylor College of Medicine in
Texas and the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.


2. Embassy understands that no further assistance or resources in
support of this project are required. Embassy contact is Kara V.
French, Political Officer, telephone 876-935-6079 or fax
876-929-6029.


3. Post requests that, if practicable, investigator contact Ms.
French to schedule briefing on project for informational purposes,
as results may relate to technical programs here. Embassy also
requests copy of results from NIH for internal informational
purposes, if possible.
