1. (C) Pursuant to reftel instructions, July 10 we called on
Harry Purwanto, Foreign Ministry Director for North and
Central American Affairs and delivered the talking points and
the White House statement. Purwanto replied that Indonesia's
position of concern had been made public and that Indonesian
Special Envoy Amb. Nana Sutresna had returned from a trip to
Pyongyang. We learned separately that Sutresna was briefing
President Yudhoyono on the results of the trip that
afternoon. Previously, we provided the talking points and
statement directly to the President's foreign policy staff on
July 6.
