1. Post is not aware of any attention paid to the UNESCO
Convention on Cultural Expressions in legislative, media, or
public forums in Guyana. The University of Guyana has not
held any discussions on the matter, and informal inquiries
to parliament revealed it is not on the legislative agenda.
A review of major print media found no published opinion for
or against ratification since October.


2. Parliament will likely be prorogued in May in preparation
for the election scheduled in August, making any legislative
action on the convention in the near-term highly unlikely.
