1. (C) On August 28, Director General of Foreign Affairs Umaru
Wurie told the Ambassador that the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs has recommended to their mission at the UN to vote in
favor of Michael Matheson's candidacy to the UN International Law
Commission.

2. (C) On an earlier occasion, Wurie told PolOff that, while
the Ministry's policy is usually to support incumbent
candidates, the Sierra Leone Mission to the UN ultimately
decides who they will vote for -- if they do not like an
incumbent, they will not vote for them.
