1. On June 6, the Ambassador delivered reftel demarche to
Acting Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Kamara. The Ambassador
encouraged the GoSL to activate the Trafficking in Persons
Task Force, as stipulated in the new Anti-Trafficking Act,
and prepare a national strategy on TIP. Kamara was pleased
by Sierra Leone's elevation to Tier 2 and asserted that
trafficking is an important issue on the GoSL agenda. Kamara
said that SL will continue working toward a Tier 1 ranking.
Kamara also said that he will report on the TIP demarche at
next week's cabinet meeting.
