1. PolOff delivered talking points on the U.S. implementation
plan for the national strategy for pandemic influenza per reftel
to Ismatullo Nasredinov, Head of the Department of European and
American Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs May 13.
2. Nasredinov said he would deliver the talking points to the
Minister of Health. He expressed relief avian influenza has not
reached Tajikistan and said the State Veterinary Service is
working closely with international organizations such as the
World Bank, the World Health Organization and the United
Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization to implement
strategic prevention measures. Nasredinov said the government
remains on alert for avian influenza and will seek U.S.
assistance if a case arises.
