(C) On February 14, Poloff made initial delivery of reftel
demarche to Vitus Njiku, head of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs' United Nations Security Council Unit. Mr. Njiku had
no substantive reply regarding the candidacies of Venezuela
and Guatemala for the Group of Latin American Countries'
(GRULAC) seat in the United Nations Security Council. Post
will continue to brief Government of Tanzania officials on
this important issue.
