1. (SBU) Poloff delivered Reftel demarche to the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Assistant Director for UN and Multilateral
Affairs Sumedha Ekanayake June 5. Ekanayake said Sri Lanka
will send a delegation to the Red Cross- Red Crescent
scheduled for June 20-21 in Geneva, and his government
supports the addition of the Red Crystal emblem in principle.
He also noted that Sri Lanka's Geneva Convention legislation
permits the addition of a new emblem to the Red Cross- Red
Crescent administratively, so it will be simple for Sri Lanka
to add the Red Crystal.
