Charities by A/S Wayne
REF: STATE 00028634
Post placed Assistant Secretary E. Anthony Wayne's op-ed
"Stop Channeling Charity to Terrorists" in all three Sri
Lankan English dailies on March 4, 2006. The combined
circulation of the government-owned Daily News, independent
Daily Mirror and independent Island exceeds 325,000,
although total readership of the three is closer to a
million. This audience now understands better the actions
the U.S. and international community are taking to curb
terrorism financing under the guise of charitable groups.
The independent Maldives newspaper and website Minivan also
carried the article, reaching a key segment of the Maldivian
audience.
