1. Per reftel request, post informed host government
officials in Barbados and St. Kitts and Nevis of the FY2007
raw cane sugar WTO TRQ country/economy allocations,
established by USTR on August 3, 2006.
2. For Barbados, post notified Carl Simpson, head of the
Barbados Agricultural Management Company (BAMC). When asked
if Barbados will export sugar to the U.S. in FY2007, Simpson
told Econoff he could not confirm any numbers at present
because the first crop estimate will be made at the end of
December 2006 and the last assessment in April 2007.
3. For St. Kitts and Nevis, post notified Keith Phillips,
Project Officer with the Ministry of Housing, Agriculture,
Fisheries and Consumer Affairs. When asked if St. Kitts and
Nevis will export sugar to the U.S. in FY2007, Phillips told
Econoff that St. Kitts has no sugar in storage and that the
sugar quota has not been serviced for over two years.
