O. 12958 1.4(b) and (d)
1. (C) Charge delivered reftel points to MFA Director for UN
Affairs Roman Buzek, who had just left a meeting on the same
subject with Acting FM Diana Strofova. Buzek said Slovakia
fully supports the adoption of a resolution as soon as the
text is ready, immediately if possible. The UNSC could not
afford delay on a resolution. Buzek will inform FM Jan Kubis
(who is on vacation but following the issue) and Slovak UN
Permrep Burian of our overture, and said the Slovak
delegation would seek to coordinate closely with USUN.
2. (C) Buzek said that FM Kubis is prepared to cut short his
vacation to participate in a Ministerial-level meeting in New
York if one would be called.
3. (C) As an aside, Buzek commented that the GOS had told the
representatives of the Arab League and some Arab delegations
to set aside their attempts to score propaganda points and to
focus on swift approval of a resolution that will lead to a
lasting as well as quick solution.
