1. (U) On AUGUST 28, 2006, poloff met with representatives of the
Serbian MFA regarding to request Serbian support for the candidacy
of Professor Ruth Wedgwood per reftel request. Serbia is unable to
give an answer at this time, but will consider Professor Wedgwood's
candidacy very closely. Any additional information received will be
forwarded. Serbia usually supports the EU consensus position on
most routine UN business (unless we strongly object on a particular
issue). We expect they will do the same in this case.
