RESOLUTION

REF: STATE 182099

Classified By: AMBASSADOR JOSEPH STAFFORD, REASON 1.4 (B AND D)

1. (C) Ambassador made reftel demarche on the Cuba Embargo
resolution to Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary (Deputy
Formin equivalent) William Joof, urging the GOTG to oppose
it, or at a minimum, abstain or be absent during the vote.
Joof took note of the demarche, but made no substantive
comment.

2. (C) COMMENT: The GOTG is likely to support the resolution,
given its heavy dependence on Cuba for medical assistance;
Cuba supplies the majority of The Gambia's physicians. END
COMMENT.
