1. (C) Ambassador Srood R. Najib, Head of the International
Organization & Multilateral Cooperation Department in the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA),said the Arab League
Boycott (ALB) is not on the agenda of the current
Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting in Jeddah
(reftel). He also told us that Iraq's representatives would
not participate in ALB discussions were they to occur. He
said the formal agenda includes three main items: Palestinian
peace; Iraq; and the recently-published Muhammad cartoons.
2. (C) Dr. Srood told us that Iraq's main goals for the OIC
meeting are:
-- Observe the OIC political process;
-- Form an OIC committee charged with following-up on OIC
Iraq resolutions and communicating with Iraq's MFA;
-- Encourage OIC countries to open embassies in Iraq; and
-- Condemn the Muhammad cartoons.
